Scanning though sites I happened along a Huffington Post
article by Melissa Sher. It is called “23 Things I Think New Parents Should
Know”. I found her points to be mostly fun and completely TRUE!
Here are my thoughts on only a FEW of the items she brings to light…
#1: The more time and effort put into
decorating a nursery, the more likely that the baby will sleep in your room.
My Response: Ok, so I thought that this where the “MOSTLY fun and
completely TRUE” statement I made above comes into play, but I was mistaken. My
daughter does sleep in her nursery, but I
(as in me, myself, and I) did not lift a finger to get it ready. My
mother-in-law and husband did all that work.
#’s 2, 5, 6, 10, 11,
12, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, and 23- I have found to
all be absolutely TRUTHS.
#3: My baby looks exactly like me, so this is a negative.
#4: I’m so scared, I only file them down.
#7: I only wish I had the nerve to do it!
#8: My daughter lights up and stops crying when we sing “Twinkle,
Twinkle”. (A real lifesaver when we were
on an 8 hour flight.)
#9: I’ve found most people to be generally concerned…unless they
also have an infant baby and try making theirs sound superior or get your sympathy.
#13: I have no intentions of being discreet, ha! That’s too much
work.
#14: After the first few weeks, the poop talk stopped. There’s
hope out there people.
#15: I’m not sure about this one. Babies are pretty darn cute.
#20: Except when they are squishy newborns and all you want to do
is stare into their beautiful eyes.
