Cloth Diapers

Cloth Diapers

Yes, my husband and I are cloth diapering parents, and we're PROUD of it.

Here is our list for cloth diapering:
 1. We're green
 2. We're concerned about the harsh, nasty chemicals being up against our baby's beautiful skin
3. We're fairly frugal.
With that being said, you should know that we do use disposables at night. First we used ugly brown organic diapers, until I discovered the ever fashionable Honest Diapers.
Because we decided that the best thing for our family was for me to stay home with the baby and not return to work, cloth diapers made sense to save us money. While they can be a HEFTY upfront investment, it certainly pays off.

I started buying cloth diapers when I was around 4 months pregnant. I bought a couple of eBay. I bought some from local cloth-diapering mothers, and then I bought a lot from Cotton Babies. I have built a stash of 54 diapers that we currently use.  There were more when used prefolds, but those have since became rags (basically). Our total cost was around $500. (54 is actually more than we need, but hopefully they will get rotated enough to last a second child if we have that happen.)
My plan is to review the different types/brands of cloth diapers that I use for anyone considering cloth diapering. I'll start with my CURRENT favorite (as it has been known to change while she grows).

BumGenius 4.0. - Pocket Diaper.

Yes, I have to spend 4 seconds stuffing them after they wash.
YES, I have to pull the insides out before tossing them into the wetbag,
but they fit her correctly. (And she looks comfortable in them.)
They are super easy to snap.
We don't have a leakage problem with them.

I have Hook&Loop diapers and Snap diapers, I prefer the snaps. I will not buy anymore H&L diapers. They are a hassle, and it's a hassle I don't have to deal with because I can buy the Snaps diapers for the same cost in the same styles. Plus, the H&L styles seem to look dinge after a couple washes.
Like other styles and brands the 4.0's come in super fun designs, which makes her diapers look expensive and like they are first-class (Really, they are.). She moves quickly and easily in them, and my husband has never complained about putting them on her.

I'd gladly buy more of the BG4.0 anytime, and enjoy using them. If you are looking to buy cloth diapers NOW, and want to know what I think about other styles NOW- feel free to email me at vitameatavegamom@gmail.com
